WELCOME to marinebiotech.org. Please take your time and look around, as the site has much to offer visitors interested in this exciting and rapidly expanding field.

The primary purpose of this website is to offer visitors a chance to explore the amazingly diverse, rapidly developing world of marine biotechnology (MBT). In these pages you will find information on all aspects of the field including leading researchers and programs, the tools involved, and relevant upcoming events. Our goal is to present this material in an exciting, engaging fashion that provides usable and accessible information for everyone from students looking for career possibilities and advice to professionals in the field.

The assemblage of organisms inhabiting the world's oceans experience the greatest extremes found anywhere on the planet for such environmental parameters such as temperature, light, and pressure. Evolutionary adaptations allowing marine species to thrive in these environments have given rise to a living library of biological and genetic diversity with limitless biotechnological potential.

Throughout this website you can explore ways in which the diversity of marine organisms serves as the inspiration for marine biotechnology-based efforts such as drug discovery programs, environmental remediation initiatives, biomaterials, industrial process development, and more.
